Electric vehicles on the U.S. roads may reach a million in the next 3-4 years

Ever wonder just how many electric vehicles are there? How many are zipping around the U.S. roads?

Since electric vehicles (EVs) were first introduced in 2010, 407,000 (EVs) have been sold. That’s 0.16% percent of the 250 million+ U.S. passenger vehicles.

In 2015, U.S. citizens bought a record 17.5 million passenger vehicles, of which 116,548 — 0.67 percent — were either plug-in hybrids or all-electrics, according to insideevs.com.

Assuming all are still road worthy and at this annual sales rate, (with a little rounding-up) it will be another 3 or 4 years until one million are not belching out CO2
