Eco Friendly Cleaning Products

green writer samantha frapartIn the previous Green Blizzard popular Eco Friendly Spring Cleaning article, we discussed eco friendly cleaning products that can easily be made in your home using natural and really, really inexpensive everyday ingredients.

Here are a few more tips on eco-friendly cleaning solutions to those stubborn problems, plus our suggestions on the best manufactured eco-friendly products.

Scuffs on the wall?   Grab a loose, but relatively clean, a tennis ball that’s rolling around in the garage. A quick rub on the wall or any tile surfaces should do the trick.

Salt Scrub – A salt scrub isn’t just for your skin. Trying to get that residue off of a cast-iron skillet can feel impossible. But just give it a quick salt bath. Salt’s natural abrasive qualities are great for a deep scrub and salt absorbs oil, lifting away residue left behind from last night’s dinner.

Not the DIY cleaning type?   You can also readily buy eco-friendly cleaning products that are made in an environmentally responsible manner with natural ingredients that are safe for both you, your family, your pets, and the planet.

Green Blizzard’s line-up of favorites include these various products:

Savvy Green: Savvy Green Automatic Dishwashing Detergent, 72 Loads, 2.25Lbs.

J.R. Watkins: J.R. Watkins All Purpose Cleaner, Lemon, 24-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 6)

Meyers: Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day All Purpose Cleaner, Lemon Verbena, 32 Ounce Bottle

In our opinion, all are products that are made responsibly from renewable products.

Winner of the 2012 Good Housekeeping VIP Award, this product will change your life, save your wallet, and keep your eco-footprint small or shrinking.

The Replenish cleaning bottle is not only reusable but comes with concentrated, plant-based non-toxic cleaning pods that only require a little bit of water and can clean almost any surface in your house.

I’m obsessed with spring cleaning in a sustainable, responsible way, and you should be too!   Consumers have been led away from the cleaning basics by slick advertisements.  It is now time to return to simple, effective, (cheap) basics.   Go out and buy a jug of vinegar and a box of baking soda. The first hurdle is having it handy around the house, after that its a breeze.

Enjoy the self-satisfaction from cleaning!
