newsletter-zinio Our Green App of the Month August 2010 is the Zinio – an electronic magazine reader. This free app is an extension of the online magazine website at Zinio. If you’re still living in the Dark Ages and getting glossy, printed magazines delivered to your cave, it’s time to consider switching to this low carbon-emitting option, especially if you already have made the investment in a tablet.

We all know that printed magazines have had their day. With today’s Kindle , and all the other tablets and even the various smartphones, why should your hard-working mail person have to deliver heavy magazines every month?

Think of all the embodied energy that went into the creation of your magazines — harvesting and processing the wood (all those poor trees!), printing heavy inks on the paper and delivering it to your home.

After your textual enjoyable, years later its considered clutter and then out it goes out in the trash.

The online reading experience is great, whether on your computer or any of the new e-reader devices now on the market. In our humble opinion, and from an Apple perspective, the experience is most enjoyable on the iPad because of its larger screen.
